The discovery that bilberry extract significantly improved the night vision of British pilots in World War II sparked the interest of the medical community. This led to numerous clinical studies that revealed the active ingredient in bilberry fruit, anthocyanosides, helped enhance eye health and vision as well as circulation disorders. Europeans have long used the bilberry extract to reduce capillary fragility. Research shows that bilberries contain antiulcer activity as well (attributed to an increase in gastric mucous)..

Bilberry works by accelerating the regeneration of retinol purple, a substance that is required for good eyesight and night vision.
Recommended Dosage: Adults, take 1 capsule one to two times daily as a dietary supplement, preferably with meals.
Cautions: Interferes with iron absorption when taken internally. Should not be used by people with diabetes except under the supervision of a knowledgable health professional.2
Contraindications: The combined effect of hypoglyecemic herbs with insulin treatment may lower blood sugar levels and could potentially result in insulin shock.3
