A Feel 21, Inc. Health Report
Vitamin C is required for life. The nature of our diets leads to a
serious lack of this essential nutrient. This situation may be a leading
contributor to much of the sickness and chronic disease that the
population of the Earth suffers. To quote Dr. Emanuel Cheraskin, Dr.
Ringsdorf and Dr. Sisley from THE VITAMIN C CONNECTION: "There are more
than ten thousand published scientific papers that make it quite clear
that there is not one body process (such as what goes on inside cells or
tissues) and not one disease or syndrome (from the common cold to
leprosy) that is not influenced, directly or indirectly, by vitamin C."
We know that it is a powerful antioxidant, but what does that mean?
According to Balz Frei in a paper published in Vitamin C in Health and
Disease, he states that ascorbate (vitamin C) is useful as part of the
treatment of almost all diseases. This almost universal benefit is
because massive doses of ascorbate neutralize massive amounts of free
radicals, and free radicals mediate all inflammations. Most acute
infectious diseases can be cured if the free radicals are eliminated.
The RDA is 60 mg. per day, but many experts in vitamin C research
suggest that we need far more vitamin C every day to maintain optimum
health. A daily dose of 120 mg. has been suggested as the basic amount
needed to prevent sub-clinical scurvy with doses up to 1000 mg. daily
recommended for those who want to maintain optimum health. In times of
stress or illness, they suggest even heavier doses of vitamin C
supplementation to fight infections and disease, and that the use of
higher doses of vitamin C has been found to be very effective. Since the
body only absorbs only a certain amount at a time, the doses should be
divided and taken at 4 hour intervals.
Being saturated with vitamin C can protect one from infectious diseases
by strengthening the immune system, diminishing symptoms of chronic
diseases, strengthening the cardiovascular system and even uplifting the
spirit, as depression is a symptom of scurvy, the result of an extreme
lack of vitamin C. (C for yourself; Valentine, Louise, The Epoch Times,
